Our School

Headteacher's Welcome

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you and your family to Oak Grange Primary School.

My name is Mrs Sarah Coleman, and it is my privilege to be the Headteacher of our growing and thriving school. Oak Grange is a warm, inclusive community where children from Nursery to Year 6 will be nurtured, challenged, and inspired every day.

With over twenty-eight years of experience in education, including eight years as Headteacher of Homefields Primary School in Chellaston, my passion for creating exciting and meaningful learning experiences for children remains as strong as ever.

From the moment I first visited the site of Oak Grange, I was drawn to the mighty oak tree nearby — a powerful symbol of growth, strength, and possibility. This continues to inspire our vision: a school where children are supported to grow strong roots, reach high, and flourish.

At Oak Grange, our values shape everything we do:

  • We develop global citizens, helping children care for their local environment and the wider world.

  • We nurture the right attitudes for life through our seven attitudes to learning, enabling children to be Resilient, Reciprocal, Respectful, Resourceful, Reflective, Responsible, and to Remember.

  • We celebrate every child as one of a kind, building confidence, self-worth, and a strong sense of identity.

  • We create moments of wonder and awe, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Oak Grange Primary School is a place where “tiny seeds become mighty trees”, with knowledge, character, and life skills firmly rooted to support children as they grow.

It is a pleasure to welcome you and your child to our school community, and I look forward to sharing your child’s learning journey with you.
